Intervarsity ONS 2013

We just returned from 10 days in Madison, Wisconsin where we took part in Intervarsity’s Orientation for New Staff (ONS). This trip was so much fun, informative, equipping and encouraging! I got a bit spoiled with a daily hotel maid, chef (all meals were prepared for us), and nanny( Intervarsity provided childcare for the kids). The weather in Madison was amazing…in the 70s all week with no humidity and plenty of good sunshine. We explored this great city and walked the entire 10 days – we didn’t need a car once! We made new friendships with staff entering the ministry at the same time as us and are so grateful for the passions behind Intervarsity and the fact that they are a truly diverse, multi-ethnic group of people all serving our Lord! Such a beautiful, refreshing  picture of the Church. Our kids did wonderfully – living in a hotel room for 10 days and having to be flexible. They also were troopers flying and taveling. On the way there, we were stuck in the plane for 3 hours while they fixed a missing screw on the wing and sat again on the plane on the way home while we waited for the storms to clear. While in Madison, Kev enjoyed some local coffee shops and I enjoyed hitting a local gym and several runs around the beautiful lake and city. We ate ice cream nearly every day at a Wisconsin ice cream creamery. And the kids found fun things like rainbow popcorn and a little toy shop to play in. We also got to go on to the campus of the University of Wisconsin where we took part in campus evangelism sharing the gospel with people. The children kept me out of my comfort zone saying “go over there and talk to those people mama!” We are so glad we went as a family to staff training and look forward to getting on the campus of Emory! Enjoy the pictures…
