Isle of Palms 2012

We just spent a week on our annual family (extended family where at one time there are 15 people under 1 roof!) trip to Isle of the Palms, SC. This year, we ventured out to the South Carolina aquarium where the kids had a blast.

This little guy loved all of the fish! And his snack. Because he can’t do anything without food.

image And…he couldn’t get enough of the “cruck!” He would have been happy to camp here all day.

We enjoyed a picnic lunch outside of the aquarium overlooking the coast on a beautiful, 80 degree day.

image We enjoyed exploring tons of nature this year. One of our favorite parts about this beach is it’s natural/rustic environment. It isn’t over commercialized like alot of other beaches and there is so much nature to be taken in. Uncle Joe-Joe found this horse shoe crab buried along with another one, and we had the pleasure of rescuing them, digging them up and releasing them back into the ocean. Thankfully, as intimidating as they look, we had learned the day before at the aquarium about how they do not pinch, sting or bite and are harmless!

Hero-daddy picked up this big guy and after we got a good look, put him back in the ocean.

Malachi and I found a hermit crab on a walk together and the girls found several little crabs…

image We also explored on Wild Dunes and found several Alligator’s, turtles, deer and different birds. One of our highlights was watching 2 dolphin swim merely feet in front of us as we were sitting by the ocean!

We did some kite flying…

And…after being married this summer, a new Aunt joined them this year! Aunt Lee-Lee is a pleasant addition to our growing family.

Can’t get enough of her cuteness. She literally played for hours entertaining herself with a rake or a bucket, or nothing at all. Love this girl!

image 15 people under 1 roof this year.

image We tried, but corralling 7 little ones 8 and under is just setting yourself up for failure I suppose 🙂

image Until next year!
