Multitude Monday and its’ Menu Musings

holy experience

“Hope by its very nature captivates both our hearts and heads. It evokes deep emotion. It moves in, and makes itself home in our souls. It takes up residence at the very core of who we are. That is why it is so vital that we begin to place our hope in the Lord.” –Adam R. Holz

In a large bowl, sprinkle yeast over warm water and let stand 5 minutes. Stir in milk, butter, sugar and salt until butter melts. Add 2 C flower, mix to blend. Beat (with mixer or by hand) until dough is elastic. Beat in vanilla, anise seed and eggs. Stir in about 1 1/2 C more flour to make soft dough.

Turn onto floured board and kneed until smooth and springy. Place in greased bowl , cover and let rise in warm place until doubled (about 1 1/2 hours)

Punch dough down, knead lightly and divide into 3 equal portions. Roll each portion into 25 inch strip and braid, then shape into a circle and pinch ends together tightly. Press in colored eggs, cover lightly and let rise another 40-45 minutes.
