I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought; and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder. ~G.K. Chesterton
Have I mentioned this gratitude thing is hard for me? Sometimes I just plain forget. And other times, my pencil refuses to write the gift – wondering if that gift, the hard one, is really a gift at all? God is no liar. And He is truly sovereign, yes? So it is. All is a gift, a grace. And, really, in my little world – up against a grander world of deep suffering, there is so, so much to be thankful for. I press on…

Worry doesn’t get us anywhere. I’ll be the first to admit it. Our family has lived a very “adventurous” life – much against the grain of culture. We married in college, moved many times in order to pursue ministry, planted ourselves into a less-than-comfortable neighborhood, raised support for many years in ministry, added 4 children to our quiver before we hit our 30’s. This is only to mention a few. So my tendency to worry has been great at times, to my regret. And then comes these sweet little babies who turn into little people, with big sinful hearts much like my own – and many more tendencies to worry about who they will become, how they will turn out, how we will afford them etc. etc. can come flooding in to rob me of the assurance that God, in all of His grand sovereignty, has ordained every second of our lives, and theirs. Enter trust. A place I pray that God will enable me to remain.
“Some women worry over real issues: health issues or spiritual issues or money issues or marriage issues or wisdom issues. But other women worry over what might be an issue in ten years. This is called borrowing trouble. It’s not pretty and it’s not cute.
Trust is lovely. Peace is beautiful. Cast your cares on Him for He cares for you..”

We have some friends who are in the process of adopting a child from Ethiopia and this Saturday, they are having a giant yard sale where all proceeds will go toward their adoption. Their sweet little ones will even be selling baked goods and lemonade. If you live locally, please stop by and help them bring their baby home!
Saturday, May 7th
8a-2p
2228 Kimberly Drive, Augusta
Now, folks, Let me clear about this.
This is going to be the yard sale of all yard sales.
Thanks to so many generous friends and family, we already have an entire ROOM in our house FULL of items to sell and about 3 moretruckloads to pick up!!
There will also be some delicious treats being sold by some very sweet little munchkins, and who can pass that up?
Would you stop by and help us to bring our baby home?
And, would you share this with others who also may want to be a part?
Thanks so much!!
We had a whirlwind of a trip to Disney World with grandparents and an Uncle. It was so much fun – especially to watch the girl’s excitement over everything. I got alot of looks hauling my near full-term pregnant belly around but it was totally worth it to go before our little guy arrives. My parents even surprised me with some close family friends I haven’t seen in a while for a birthday dinner out at a T-Rex restaurant – truly a one-of-a-kind experience! We hope to go back one day to further explore the world of Disney…
The hotel we stayed at was the 101 Dalmatians Theme
Snow White was the first princess we spotted – it’s amazing how true-to-life they are!
A spontaneous show at the Cinderella castle which the girls loved!
Ellie was really into it…
Cinderella’s step-sisters. They were hilarious! All the characters you meet are always “in character” when they are talking, taking pictures and signing books. This was Kevin and I’s favorite part!
Dumbo ride
The girl’s favorite ride was “It’s a Small World” a true classic.
Ellie especially loved this one, she waved to all of the dolls.
Mary Poppins
The house at Pooh Corner.
Matt Hatter Tea Cups
Sweet little Jada wanted to meet Daisy Duck
and even got a hug! She’s our brave one…
Jesse from Toy Story. Ashtyn now sleeps with a Jesse doll that she picked out every night at bed time.
Inside Minney Mouse’s house!
Peter Pan
Yes, this is a restaurant!
Dinosaur bone slushy
Every 20 minutes the restaurant would go dark and there would be a “meteorite shower”
My birthday dessert was this monstrous smoking mountain of chocolate cake and ice-cream. Pretty amazing!
Lego Land in downtown Disney….all of these things are made out of legos!
Goodbye Disney!
Today, we celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. This past weekend, we got spoiled on our Lilburn, Georgia get-away to celebrate our 8th Anniversary at a place that we can’t help but return to year after year. The sweet couple that runs this ministry to pastor’s and their wives have poured out their love on us time after time. They have become dear friends and mentors and we always return refreshed and loved on. How can you not when you wake up to this every morning?
FOur dear friends whom have served us time and time again. We are sure their reward in heaven will be great!
A really cool Starbucks overlooking a lake that we like to frequent while we are there…
We visited the Atlanta Botantical Gardens this year, truly a beautiful place…
When you don’t have your kids with you, you take alot of pictures of yourselves!
(yes, that is the beginning of a Baby bump!)
The beautiful sites….
Wall of herbs
Amazing orchids!
The tropical plants were amazing too…
Rainforest
Blown Glass Fountain
We enjoyed a nice dinner out in downtown Atlanta at the Flying Biscuit – some good eatin’! Kevin had a fried green tomato sandwich with goat cheese and sweet chashew relish and I enjoyed a hot chicken salad with blue cheese and roasted rosemary potatoes.
Year number 8 (no, that’s not a gang symbol)
I’m so thankful God keeps me laughing through the world’s of my girls. This morning everyone was up bright and early and here are some of the conversations that brought smiles to my face…
Jada: Mama why do we call Nana, Nana?
Me: That’s just her name
Jada: Is it because she likes Bananas?
And…
Ashtyn: Mama I remember when you said that I shouldn’t date until I’m ready to get married
Me: Yes, that’s right honey
Ashtyn: Well, I just don’t know about that!
Me: What do you mean?
Ashtyn: I like to go on dates when I’m a little girl
Me: Well, the only person you can go on dates with is daddy
Ashtyn: OK!

Daddy,
Said a little child so small.
I’m following in your footsteps,
And I do not want to fall.
Sometimes your steps are very fast, Sometimes they’re hard to see.
So, walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I am all grown up,
You’re what I want to be.
Then I will have a little child,
Who’ll want to follow me.
And, I would want to lead just right,
And, I’d know that I was true.
So, walk a little slower Daddy.
For I must follow you.

Just a little reminder in our much-too-fast-paced culture to walk a little slower today. You wouldn’t want to miss what God has put right in front of you…
